BIO
I am a native of Louisiana and recently relocated to Hammond after 30 years of residence in New Orleans. My works reflect my life in the city and the diverse state of Louisiana.
As a self-taught artist, I have developed many photographic styles, most recently focusing on the 2-D mixed media approach. My photographic images originating from film, hand painted photographs, and digital processes are transformed to mixed media with the blending of salvage materials such as architectural windows, hardware, ceiling tiles and various found objects.
My mixed media work has been most influenced by residing in New Orleans during the early rebuilding years of the city. The materials I use are found by sorting through piles of precious fragments of old buildings. As a born recycler, the ecological impact of bringing these discarded but valuable pieces back to life contributes to my creative motivation.
To stand the test of time, my artwork is finished with polymer or acrylic to form a lasting and moisture resistant quality.
And the most important motivation of all – it's fun!!!!
